Jas & Simon
St Paul’s Cathedral, London
St Paul’s Cathedral is an amazing building. Designed by Christopher Wren, this Baroque Anglican building has dominated London’s skyline since the 1700s. It is the fifth cathedral to have stood on that spot following its consecration in around 1300, the previous ones having all been burnt down at some point. It is one of the things I love the most about living in London. The fact that these amazing buildings, steeped in so much history can endure, even surrounded by all the modern buildings that often dwarf them now.
It was in one of these new builds adjacent to St Paul’s that Jas & Simon had met, in a bar opposite the Cathedral. I met them both in a coffee shop at the bottom of the shopping centre and they told me their story from their first meeting and date in the rooftop restaurant Madison, all the way up to their wedding plans in Ascot.
Soon we ventured out into the slightly iffy weather, climbing to the top of One New Change to take some pictures with the Cathedral.
Through a combination of umbrellas and hiding underneath convenient things we were able to avoid the drizzle and stay dry! In spite of this, Jas and Simon were great fun to be around and made my job very easy. I have to mention that they were both incredibly well dressed, which perfectly fit with the grandness of their surroundings.
Finally we ventured out onto Millennium Bridge to get a shot. The weather was blustery and it seemed like everyone in London had decided to cross the river at this time. In this image below the softness and high-key give it an intimacy which I love in front of one of London’s most iconic landmarks.
Congratulations Jas and Simon!
